Home science is a scientific course of study which moulds a student with a variety of life skills. This is a unique discipline with a blend of science and art.
It does not limit itself to the home related skills of cooking, laundry, decoration and stitching.
Home science is now out of the shell of misconceptions and opened its doors for new avenues in all possible fields of life.

It is an interdisciplinary course covering a wide spectrum of subjects falling under 3 main core subjects: Nutrition, Human Development and Family Resource Management.
This is a recognised professional course and requires its students to have a logical and intellectual mind.
As there is a growing concern for health and nutrition, the changing lifestyle of present generation, Home Science course has come to limelight.

Home Science is a bachelor’s degree of 3 years duration. Apart from the core subjects, it also includes accessory subjects like Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Basic Research Methodology, Entrepreneurship Development, Family Life Education, Family Dynamics, Personality Development, Fashion Designing, Food Preservation and Quality Control etc.
Home Science graduates are eligible for Master’s degree in Home Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science and Technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Fashion Technology, any of Arts Courses like Psychology, MBA and also in any of the accessory subjects mentioned above.
Eligibility
The candidate applying for the course of Home Science must have passed 10+2 or intermediate with M.P.C. or Bi.P.C.

UGC NET Home Science Methodology
- Teaching methodology strictly focus on the difficulties faced by aspirants in the preparation of this exam such as lack of proper study material of home science, ignorance of crucial aspects, inadequate Test practices and lengthy syllabus.
- Unique testing scheme designed according to the latest developments in respective subjects. Moreover we put a prime emphasis on time management skills, as many subjects have vast syllabus and students are left with limited time for the preparation of the exam.
